LIBRARY STUDY SMART.

Library Study Smart provides professional advice on academic writing, completing assignments and researching information. Learn how to improve your literacy skills for successful university life.

Book a one-to-one appointment with a literacy expert to learn to:

  • analyse and interpret assignment questions,
  • plan and structure your assignment,
  • develop a convincing academic argument,
  • prepare for exams or develop specific study skills,
  • search for and manage information well,
  • reference and cite your sources correctly.

The Study Smart website also provides guides and resources across a range of study topics.

STUDIOSITY.

Before you hand your assignment in, get writing feedback from Studiosity. Upload your draft anytime from the My vUWS homepage or from the Support Zone in any vUWS unit site and receive writing feedback, usually within 24 hours.

You can also access help instantly from a Studiosity Subject Specialist with live chat, collaborative whiteboard and file sharing. Studiosity can be used up to 10 times per teaching session.

ACADEMIC LITERACY WORKSHOPS.

Academic literacy workshops and grammar workshops can help you develop essential academic writing, essay writing and referencing skills. The workshops are run pre-session and during the midsession breaks on various campuses, and online.

Great for all students, these workshops may be especially helpful if you’re wondering about the academic expectations of university, if you’ve had a break from study, or if you haven’t studied in Australia before.

PASS - PEER ASSISTED STUDY SESSIONS.

PASS are collaborative and informal study sessions facilitated by your peers; senior students who have successfully completed the unit and can help you exceed your study expectations.

Weekly sessions are free. Just check the website timetable and turn up!

MESH - MATHS EDUCATION SUPPORT HUB.

MESH provides students at all levels of study with mathematics, statistics and numeracy support. MESH helps students to:

  • improve their basic maths skills,
  • apply maths and stats within their studies,
  • gain confidence in using maths and stats.

Drop-in help is available during semester on campus or via Zoom. There’s no need to book an appointment. MESH runs refresher workshops before and during semester. Students can post a question online to the “I Don’t Get It” service.
