August: System Updates and Outages

Western ITDS and our external vendors undergo regular, scheduled IT upgrades and maintenance to ensure platform security and continuous improvement to all of the Library digital services. Regular maintenance periods are scheduled to minimise the impact on the vital operations to all students and staff. Thank you for your understanding, while we undertake this essential system maintenance.

System notifications for this month are:

Friday 14th August: ResearchDirect Outage
Between 1am - 6am on Friday 14th August, the ResearchDirect platform will undergo system updates. There will be disruptions to accessing the platform during this timeframe and as a result staff and researchers will not be able to submit publications into the Library's ResearchDirect repository system.

Friday 14th August: Impacts to Library digital resources.
On 14th August, essential maintenance will be carried out on multiple Western servers, which may impact access to Library systems with session-based logins. Interruptions or impacts are expected to be short and anticipated to begin from 8pm. We recommend students and staff to log out of Library services before 8pm so that work is saved, and log in again at approximately 8.15pm. We apologise for any inconvenience.

Sunday 16th August: Library Search Box, My Library and Reading Lists impacted by maintenance
Between 2:00am - 4:00am on Sunday 16th August, scheduled maintenance will be undertaken on multiple Library digital platforms, impacting access to the following systems:

  • Library Search Box
  • My Library
  • Reading Lists

Each system may be unavailable for up to 1 hour during this timeframe.
