COVID-19 Announcement: 25th March, 2020

We are continuing to modify our service to protect the safety and wellbeing of our staff and students in response to the Australian Government recommendations about COVID-19, while providing the resources and information services you need to complete your studies.

We are open

The Library is currently fully open to our students and staff for self-service, access to collections and use of study spaces and computers, with staff providing online assistance via chat, email and phone during our advertised opening hours.

Where available, Study hall is currently operating Monday to Friday as advertised.

Social distancing:

Library staff will be observing the State Government social distancing recommendations and encourage all library visitors to do so to ensure their own health and to avoid putting others at risk. Please maintain the recommended social distancing space of 1.5m when interacting with others.

You will see new signage on some library computers and facilities which enables the implementation of social distancing. Not all library computers will be accessible due to social distancing recommendations, and permitted numbers in group study rooms have been reduced.

Restricted access to the Library:

Your Western Sydney University/The College student or staff ID card is required for swipe/tap access to the library at all times.  In the present circumstances, school children and children accompanying parents/siblings into the Library are not permitted.

If your card does not grant access, please see Campus Safety and Security on your campus to activate your card.  This is only required once.

We appreciate your assistance and patience with maintaining social distancing while swiping/tapping in individually, and not entering in groups.

Library Service Desk Online:

We have moved standard face to face assistance from library staff to online and telephone delivery, and encourage you to use self-service equipment where available.

Self-service equipment will allow you to:

  • borrow/renew/return items (renewals not available if another person is waiting for the item)
  • print/copy/scan
  • add funds to your copy account via ePay stations.

Should you need assistance, you can contact the Online Librarian by email, live chat or telephone 02 9852 5353.
