Web of Science

Web of Science is available via e-resources on the UWS Library homepage. It contains citations from over 9300 journals from 1985 to the present and is updated weekly. The citation being searched may be older, (pre-1985), but only references from 1985 or later will be retrieved. Books, chapters, conference proceedings and theses although not indexed in Web of Science, will be retrieved if they have been cited in an article that is listed.

Cited Reference Search allows searching via the cited author, cited work and/or cited year(s). Note that only the first listed author of an article is indexed. Each article can be followed back in time (Cited References) and forward in time (Times Cited). Click into Find Related Records to retrieve papers that share at least one reference with the parent document.

For further assistance with Cited Reference Searching visit the tutorial menu on the Cited Reference Search section of the website.

A citation alert can be set up to notify a user when a particular article is cited. Free registration is required for this service.

From each individual record a link to Journal Citation Reports indicates if the publishing journal has an Impact Factor. The journal impact factor is the average number of times articles from a journal are cited over a two year period.

Individual records can be imported into bibliographic software management tools (RefWorks or Endnote). From within the record select 'Export to Reference Software' inside the 'Output This Record' box and follow the prompts.
