Peer Reviewed Journals
Articles published in peer reviewed or refereed journals are subject to evaluation by experts in the field before they are published, so are considered more scholarly than non peer reviewed articles.
To determine whether a journal is peer reviewed you could:
- Examine the journal's editorial policy, either online or within a hardcopy of the journal.
- Look up the journal in Ulrich's Periodicals Directory.
Ulrich's Periodicals Directory
Ulrich's Periodicals Directory is available from the e-resources link via the Library homepage.
Conduct a search for an individual journal title or via subject.
Within the individual journal listing the following information is available:
- Peer review status of journal
- Link to Journal Citation Reports if it has an impact factor.
- In which databases (if any) the journal is indexed or abstracted.
- Frequency of publication
- Table of contents by issue
- Link to journal website.
- Link to UWS catalogue so holdings can be checked.
