Subject Databases
A database is a compilation of journal articles or citations to journal articles, book chapters and theses. The information is predominantly stored in electronic format. Some databases are subject specific and some are more general in nature. They are accessible 24/7 from the Library homepage, listed alphabetically and by subject under
Resources > e-resources. If you are outside UWS, authentication is required. Instructions are available at the login site.
If the item you require is listed as an abstract only, click the

symbol (see image below) within the database as the item may be available in full text in an alternative database or in hardcopy within the Library.
To retrieve a known journal article:
- Look up the journal title in the Library catalogue.
- If the Library subscribes to the journal you will be directed to its location, usually within a database.
- If the Library does not hold the item you need (and you are a staff member or postgraduate student) it may be ordered through Document Delivery. You need to register for this service.
