Access to titles
Q: I've completed a search in one of the electronic journal collections sites, however when I select a link to a title, it says I need a subscription. Why?
A: In most cases, this is a result of the library not subscribing to all titles in every online collection. The Library generally subscribes to a number of titles in each collection, however costs prevent subscription to all available titles in all collections.
Titles to which we subscribe are generally listed in the library catalogue, along with links to the online journal. Alternatively, you can often check if the title is meant to be available via UWS within the collection site. Depending on the site/collection, this information is found under headings similar to 'subscriptions', 'browse' or 'profile'.
Q: I've found the document I want, but when I try to open the PDF document I get an error.
A: Ensure Adobe Acrobat Reader is installed on your machine, and is a recent version. The software can be downloaded from the library site at:
http://library.uws.edu.au/downloads.php
If it is a large file, it may take a long time to download to your machine.
It is possible for the browser version to affect the ability to view PDF files. Check that you are using a current version of your browser.
