Citing Resources
When writing assignments, reports, research papers or theses, you must acknowledge quotations, information and ideas taken from other authors through a bibliography or list of references.
The University of Western Sydney Library has developed guides for the citation styles most commonly used within the University.
Use of these guides is endorsed within the UWS University Referencing Styles Policy
It is important to first consult your unit outline, lecturer or tutor for the preferred citation style for each unit you undertake.
These citation style guides are designed to cover the most commonly asked citation and referencing questions. Further support is available.
To assist in managing citations and applying citation styles, University of Western Sydney provides free access to an online bibliographic management program, REFWORKS, which enables you to create your own personal database of references and automatically format references and bibliographies. Postgraduate students and staff can download EndNote program which offers similar functionality.
