Borrowing

Laptop Loans for Students and Staff


The University of Western Sydney Library has laptop computers for loan to current UWS staff and students. Laptops are available from the Service Desk at the Bankstown, Campbelltown, Hawkesbury, Parramatta, Penrith Allen and Penrith Ward libraries. Please ask staff for details.

Eligibility:
  • Current UWS staff or students only
  • Library late fees less than $10
  • No overdue items on your borrowing record
  • Laptop loans count towards your total borrowing limit
Loan period:
  • Laptops may be borrowed for a period of up to 3 hours
  • Laptop loans may not be renewed
  • One laptop only may be borrowed by any one person at any one time
  • Laptops cannot be reserved
Hours of Service:
  • Laptops are available for loan from Library opening, with the last loan due for return 30 minutes prior to closing
  • No overnight loans are available
Use of Laptops:
  • Any work must be saved to a USB stick/thumb drive. Work saved to the laptop will be deleted on its return to the Library
  • Documents can be printed by using the wireless printing facility in the Library or saving your work to a USB drive and taking that USB drive to a desktop PC in the library or IT labs
Return of laptops:
  • Laptops are to be handed to staff at the Library Service Desk on their return. Return must be at the same library where borrowing occurred
Late fees / Charges:
  • $10 per hour or part thereof, immediately following the due date and time
Loss and/or Damage:
  • Borrowers are completely responsible for the safety of the laptop.
  • Borrower will be held liable for replacement charges of lost, stolen or damaged equipment. Full replacement cost of the laptop will be at market value - currently $2,500
  • Charges for damages will be at the discretion of the Library
